Three tips to organize your home office

While most people wait for the New Year to start their resolution to be more organized, September has always felt like the perfect time of year to me for an organizational reboot.

While most people wait for the new year to start their resolution to be more organized, to me, September has always felt like the perfect time of year for an organizational reboot. I haven’t been a student for a long time, but the urge to get organized and prepare for the ‘school year’ is still instilled in me. Why should the kids get all the fun? Treat yourself to a pretty—and organized—workspace with these tips and cool office items:

1. Invest in organizational pieces
I always fall for the bright boxes and files from Semikolon. Their crisp design and wide array of bright colours make them a perfect fit for any office. Pick one in your favourite colour to keep you inspired during the most monotonous of tasks. While outfitting an entire office all at once could get a bit pricey, I try to invest in at least one new piece every season. You’d be surprised to see how quickly your collection will grow.

2. Put pretty things in functional spaces
Don’t let your office become strictly utilitarian. Use a fancy cup as your pencil holder or buy a new lamp for your desk. If you really love the way it looks, it will give you extra incentive to keep it neat.

3. Use what you already have
Look around your kitchen cupboard or recycling bin for containers or boxes that can be re-used to organize your drawers. Transform these finds into decorative storage pieces by recovering them with a recycled beautiful wrapping paper for a luxe look.
