23Do you Swish?

Personnally, I know about thrift stores, flea market, wharehouse sale and donation, but not about Swishing.

I love the idea of it and I’m looking forward to actually attend my first Swishing event. The idea originates from UK but has spread from the U.S. to China, South Africa to Brazil. It’s now a global phenomenon and spread Swishing beyond its UK beginnings to fashionistas across the globe.

You have to bring nice, clean, presentable clothes that are lurking unloved in your wardrobe, and other girls fall in love with them and give them a good home. You might bring one sweater and take two pairs of shoes, or hang a party frock on the ‘Swishing Rail’ and take a pair of skinny jeans and feather boa. You may find the perfect outfit for the next Christmas party, your next interview or the perfect kit to find Mr. Right,  Who knows?

“Save money, save the planet, have a party: swishing effortlessly touches all of these buttons. Swishing parties are for all those women who want to combine glamour, environmental protection and frugality.”

Lucy Shea, founder of Swishing and Chief Executive of Futerra Sustainability Communications.

The rules :

Running a Swishing party is simple, just follow the Rules of the Rail:
1) Everyone must bring at least one item of quality clothing.
2) You will have half an hour to browse before the swish opens.
3) No item may be claimed before the swish opens.
4) As soon as the swish is declared open, everyone may take what they want.
5) Remember no scratching, spitting or fighting.

Looking forward to the Montreal Swishing event!
